HOW DO WE MEASURE NUTRIENTS IN FOOD?
Let's see if we can measure the amount of fat in chips!

CONCLUSION
SCIENTIFIC LAB REPORT:
AIM : To investigate the amount of energy (fat) in chips
HYPOTHESIS: IF there is fat in the chip, THEN the chip will burn BECAUSE fat is energy that can be released and measured as heat (with a thermometer)
VARIABLES:
RISKS:
MATERIALS:
METHOD:
Set up the equipment
Fill test tube with 10ml of water
Measure water temp and record
Choose a chip, RECORD THE TYPE and attach it to the paper clip.
Light the chip carefully
Record final temperature of water
Repeat for all the types of chips.
RESULTS: as a table and graph (line)
Remember the INDEPENDENT VARIABLE (what you are changing) goes in the LEFT HAND COLUMN of the table. Add main title, two column titles and units.
REMEMBER - A TABLE NEEDS EIGHT FEATURES TO BE CORRECT!
DISCUSSION

Science that explains these trends
Accuracy (Apparatus)
Reliable (Repeated for consistency)
Valid (Variables - only IV changed, tests what supposed to test)

CONCLUSION!
From the graph and table, it can be seen that............ Whereas the ............... These results suggest that ..........................
Although most variables were controlled this test was not valid and fair. There are many factors that could have been changed and prevented to improve validity of the experiment. For example, a ................................................................................ This could mean that ............................................................................... This problem could be overcome by ............................................................................... ............................................................................... Another example of why the test was not fair ................................................................................................................................................. .This could cause the ............................................................................... ............................................................................... This could be prevented by ............................................................................... ............................................................................... Another example of why the test was not entirely fair may be because there was ............................................................................... ............................................................................... ............................................................................... This problem could have been prevented by having a maximum of 6 thermometers.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the results from the experiment, it can be concluded that the X affects the X . The hypothesis was supported.
